Cookaday

Delete your data

For the Cookaday app

Cookaday has no account with a name or password — only an anonymous installation. You can delete that installation and everything stored with it at any time: in the app, which takes effect immediately, or by email if you have already removed the app.

In the app (immediate)

  1. Open Cookaday and go to Settings.
  2. Scroll to Delete my data and tap it.
  3. Type DELETE in the confirmation field, exactly as shown.
  4. Confirm. The record is removed straight away.

The app keeps working afterwards, but it starts over: your saved recipes, your household profile and your cooked history are gone and cannot be recovered.

By email (within 30 days)

If you have already uninstalled the app, write to cookaday@palmstudio.app with the subject Delete my data, and include your support id — the code shown at the bottom of the app’s Settings screen. Cookaday installations carry no name and no email address, so that id is the only way we can find the right record. We confirm within 2 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What is deleted

  • The anonymous installation record itself.
  • Your household food profile: portions, allergies, dislikes, equipment, time budget and staples.
  • Your saved recipes and imported links.
  • Your cooked history and the meal memory built from it.
  • Your shopping list.
  • The copy of all of that stored on your device.

What is kept, and why

  • Published recipe pages. The answers Cookaday writes are published on this website and shared with everyone who asks the same question. They contain no personal data and are not linked to whoever asked for them first, so they stay.
  • “Cooked it” and “did not work” counts. These are held against the recipe, not against you, and are what stop a bad answer being served to the next person.
  • Crash reports. Diagnostic reports are tied to an app installation rather than to your data, and are deleted automatically after the provider’s standard 90-day window.
  • Purchase records. Apple, Google and RevenueCat retain transaction records as required for accounting and subscription management. We cannot delete these, and they are not needed to use the app.

Your subscription is separate

Deleting your data does not cancel an active subscription. Subscriptions are billed by the store, so cancel yours there: on iPhone in Settings, your name, Subscriptions; on Android in the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions.

For anything else, see the Privacy Policy or write to cookaday@palmstudio.app.
